It’s that time of year again. Hollywood’s Brightest are headed north of the border to hit the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival. It jumps-starts the fall movie season, and it’s the first stop on the very long road to the Oscars.
Sandra Bullock will show us Our Brand Is Crisis, Johnny Depp is bringing Black Mass, Matt Damon is The Martian, Idris Elba goes evil in Beasts Of No Nation, and after premiering her Oscar-winning performance in Still Alice at last year’s festival, Julianne Moore is here again with Freeheld. Who will be the one to start their trek to gold in Toronto this year? We will soon find out.
It can be a little daunting keeping track of the hundreds of movies that screen during the festival, so for this edition of ET Canada Soundoff, Kate and I break down the ones that are gaining the most buzz and could be the breakout hits of 2015.
Sandra or Julianne? Johnny or Idris? Of course, it always helps if the movie’s script is based on a best-selling book, and those are well represented at the fest too. Room and Brooklyn are two of the most high-profile choices, and I’m already heaping praise on one of them!
