It’s DJ Earworm vs. Daniel Kim again!
I wait every year for DJ Earworm‘s mash-up of the top 25 songs of the year, and while he’s underwhelmed the past couple of years, he delivers with “Do What You Wanna Do”. This guy creates quite a challenge for himself. He only uses the top 25 biggest hits from Billboard (he doesn’t choose his own favourites), so he has to make them work together. Then he doesn’t just make the music work with each other, but he makes the lyrics make sense together too. It’s an insane feat he pulls off, and this one really works. My favourite part is when he puts all the artists who say their name in their song.
Now, Daniel Kim‘s mashup is more expansive because he doesn’t put the parameters on what he uses like DJ Earworm does. That’s why you hear songs like Jennifer Lopez‘s “First Love”, Beyonce‘s “Drunk In Love”, Usher‘s “Good Kisser”, Katy Perry‘s “This Is How We Do” and others. This is definitely a more entertaining mix than DJ Earworm’s (just wait for the “All About That Bass” mix with Miley Cyrus‘ “Wrecking Ball” and A Great Big World‘s “Say Something”) but not as technically as impressive. So does that mean Earworm’s is better? I don’t know. I’m just gonna enjoy both.
