Mariah Carey stopped by Hot 97 for an interview to promote her new single, and she finally spilled the beans on her time last season on American Idol: “Honestly, I hated it.”
We all know that Mariah had her problems with fellow judge Nicki Minaj, and Mariah is finally speaking out on how bad it was. Clearly, it was no publicity stunt.
“I was led to believe — I was the first person signed on. Heaven forbid I look like I’m saying something negative, but honestly I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment. I was like, okay, Randy Jackson will be there, I’ve known him forever. This isn’t a big deal. This will be nothing. But it wasn’t that. It was like hell. It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.”
Oh, that’s awkward. Cue Nicki Minaj’s angry tweet response in 3, 2, 1…
Mariah goes on to say, “It didn’t affect me that much. I was disappointed. I loved the contestants. And some of them were so good, and also really good people. It was disappointing when they would — for political reasons — not put [contestants] through. And I’m like, I’m not going to sit here and do this. I would prefer to put this person in a studio and record a record with them.”
Well, at least she’s being honest. You can watch the whole interview here. It’s Mariah had her finest. She spends several minutes complaining that her motorized hand fan isn’t studded, and she wants a second one. Yeah…
